"What do I believe? I do not know; I do not know; I do not know."
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.

My Thoughts
HOLY.FUDGING.AWESOME-NESS.
This book was on my TBR list for a reeeeally long time and there was a lot of hype about it but I never really got around to reading it.And just recently I bought it from Amazon and boy oh boy,it totally was worth every cent!
Divergent is the kinda book that keeps you up the entire night because it was frigging amazing.
First, the description of the world that Roth had created was written so vividly that it was almost as if I was there with Beatrice/Tris.The unfairness of the factions, the simple pleasures that the people were denied and all those stifling rules! There was plenty of action and there were some nail-biting moments too.
The characters were like-able too.None of those usual wimpy and pathetic protagonists,Tris was totally badass! At the beginning we get to see only a peek of her fearlessness but as the story progresses she kicks ass!Tris was a realistic character who did not fit in and she made a hard choice when she chose her faction. She had her insecurities and made a bunch of mistakes so I could relate to her.I LOVED Four too - he was unpredictable and strong such a sweetie too!The supporting characters Christina, Will, Peter, Al,Tris's parents and brother were great supporting characters too.
Divergent wasn't perfect but it was pretty close.
I wish Roth had explained the differences between the factions in depth. And also I wish Caleb, Tris's brother was more involved in the story.
The ending wasn't much of a cliff hanger but since I loved the story I absolutely cannot wait to read Insurgent!
