My Blogging Bucket List

Book Blogging New Year Resolutions Bucket List
1. Branching out - I enjoy book blogging and I love reading other book blogs. But this year I hope to read more non-bookish blogs. IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers)Boost Blog TrafficDaily Blog Tips are some of the amazing non-bookish blogs that I discovered this year!

2. Commenting - I'm going to make it a point to respond to my blog comments promptly. I have definitely been slacking in the whole 'commenting-on-other-blogs' parts so that's something that'll be working on and to motivate myself to do just that I also took the 'Bloggers Commenting Back' pledge at Readers in Wonderland-Want to take the pledge? Check out my sidebar for the button!

3. Digging Deeper - Although I like the idea of blogging just for the fun of it, I'd like to know what I am actually doing and to know that I'm doing them best I can every time I hit publish. So in order to do that, I will be looking into the nitty gritty bits like SEO, site security and blog analytics.

4. Make Blogging a Learning Experience - Photography, a lil coding, writing better post titles and graphic design are a few things that I hope to learn along the way.

5. My Blog, My Rules - Blogging at my own pace and only when I want to without beating myself over it is another thing I'm gonna do. If a few scheduled posts, a well-timed hiatus and a 'Friends' marathon could prevent the 'blogger burnout' I'd say go for it!

6. Make That Leap of Faith- More discussions, more list posts, different reviewing styles and more non-bookish posts. Basically, try a whole lot of new things that I wanted to in 2013.

7. Do a bi-weekly link-up of the posts that I enjoyed around the blogosphere.

8. Participate in more blogging events, Blog Hops and guest post on another blog!

9. Networking - Reach out to at least 5 people each week on Twitter! Leave my comfort zone and talk to both newbie and experienced bloggers.

10. Ditch a few of those a bazillion social networks and use only those that I find beneficial to my blog or fun. Facebook's not quite working out for me so I'll be making one last attempt this year to see how it goes, if it still proves to tedious and pointless I'm getting rid of it.
Instead of forcing myself to do the things I don't like, I'll be focusing on the stuff I truly enjoy!

  1. Aww well these are some amazing resolutions, Nuz! :) I definitely think that branching out is important, because we don't want to be isolating an audience-- and also, I do hope you get to meet your resolve for commenting back and networking and just reaching out! It is LOADS of fun to converse with other people :D And My Blog, My Rules is right!! Nice one :D

    1. Thanks, Jasmine! I agree isolating an audience would not be a good move, mixing it up opens so much possibilities and brings in different kinds of people to your blog.
I hope you reach your goals for 2014 too! :)

  3. I also follow several non-bookish blogs. It's a good thing that my rss reader allows me to segregate the blogs into categories. I pretty much pursuing the same goals. Awesome Nuz! :D

  4. These are great bloggy resolutions! #6 is a big one for me too! I like so many other things than reading so I'm excited to get to blogging about them too. Variety is a good thing, for sure! And commenting - yes!!! I have been so crap at commenting so I'm trying to do more of it. I might decide to treat myself to a sweet every time I comment on five blogs. No better motivation! Especially since I have so much left from Christmas. Anyhoo, good luck on your list! I know you're going to rock this year! :D

    1. Since I started Say It with Books, I've learned so much and picked up some great skills so I'm definitely grateful to blogging for this! :)

  6. Great list! I like how you look at blogging as a "Learning Experience". :) I want to comment more and be more active on Twitter, too. And do more discussion posts. Also, I wouldn't mind to learn a little coding as well :D

    1. Thank you so much, Cayce! :) More discussion posts is one of my main focus areas for 2014 and I can't wait to see what you guys think of them. I've been reading a lot of sites that focus on the technical aspect of blogging and they really help with all the pesky coding stuff-You should give it a try! :)

  7. I need to stop beating myself up over not being able to blog all the time too. Sometimes it's just not going to happen that week because life happens. I also need to make more non review posts but I feel like I have nothing to say so that will be a struggle :/
Good luck with your goals this year!

    1. Everyone needs a break once in a while so don't feel guilty for taking one-Trust me, a hiatus REALLY does help beat the blogger burn out!
Oh you should do them, Adrianna-Once you get started discussions become the easiest posts to write.
Thanks, Good Luck with your goals too! :)

  8. I definitely need to branch out too! Any good suggestions you have Nuzaifa? ;D
You're not the only one slacking with comments. I have 3 weeks worth of comments I have to get to and I have no excuse; I'm on break. ):
I need to focus on SEO too, but I have NO CLUE on where to start.
Great list of goals Nuzaifa & I hope you'll succeed in doing them all! :D<3

  9. I love all of these resolutions! I have to focus on all of these as well and SEO is definitely something that baffles me. Hopefully I get to improve my coding skills this year! I've been dabbling in it for a while but I haven't taken the whole leap just yet.

I'm sure you'll succeed in doing them all, Nuz! :) Have a great 2014!

  10. I'm definitely limiting what social networks I join this time round! Pinterest is the only one I'm still on the fence about, but for now Twitter and Facebook are enough (although, like you, I haven't had much luck with FB in the past).

  11. My blog, my rules is a great one. It's so easy to feel we should be doing this or doing that and then it gets stressful. I think just doing things the way we want to do them is the best way to keep this hobby fun.
I've just recently started a Facebook page but I am seeing traffic from there so for now I'll keep it going. But I don't think anything beats twitter for traffic.

  12. Outside of book blogs, I've been following some of lifestyle blogs regularly, they help a lot especially when I'm feeling bored reading all the bookish posts :) Learning about SEO, doing more non-review posts and link-up is something I need to do too this year.
Good luck with all your bucket-list, Nuz! Have a great year ahead :D

  13. I love number 5 and 6. I also think it's important to create a schedule that works for you so you don't stress out. I also want to work on more discussions and features. I need to brainstorm =)
Best of luck with your bucket list!

  14. This is an amazing list. I agree with you point for point- except for Facebook. I tend to feel for comfortable with it than any other social media. #2 and #5 especially stand out to me. I've gotten so caught up in just the overall blogging idea that I didn't realize how much I missed socializing and interacting with fellow bloggers. And in order for blogging to not feel like a chore I had to learn to take a step back (#5).

I wish you the best of luck with your goals and I look forward to seeing where this new year will take you.

  15. I want to read more non-booking blogs too. I have found a couple that I enjoy. But.. I guess they are more of websites then blogs. If you find any neat ones... let me know!! Honestly a lot of your goals are really similar to my goals. I was to really branch out and make my blog a little bit more. I am participating in this meme called Life of a Blogger which I have enjoyed. It talks about me.. not books. I like this because since my blog isn't personal this allows people to know me a little better.

    Good luck!

  16. Oooo great list! I definitely want to try branching out too! Sometimes I forget there's a whole blogging universe out there and bookish blogs are just one planet. Best wishes on your bucket list, I know you can do it. (FRIENDS marathons get me through all my troubles)! :)
