My Thoughts

Wow. That was definitely not expected. And I mean that in a good way.

She’s been seeing ghosts. Emerson has been used to it, she’s been seeing them ever since she was a kid. But then it stopped. Now its come back, and it has more mysteries with it.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how Hourglass is. And I must say that it was a pretty book. The moment I saw the cover, I was already drawn to it, it just so happens that I didn’t really had the time to read it as of this time. When I first started reading the first parts, I became partly nervous. Why? Because there’s ghosts in it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in ghosts, they just creep the heck out of me, and it isn’t helping that I usually read from 9 up to 12 or even 1 in the morning. But then as I continued reading it, I realized that it wasn’t just a book about a girl who sees ghosts. There were a lot of secrets that were uncovered as I progressed through the story.

I’m trying to not spoil any of those people who haven’t read this yet, but let me spoil you, just for a teensy winsy bit. If you think that its just a book that talks about ghosts, think again. The book was kinda tricky at first because what you think the story was, was just a beginning of a whole different scenario (Am I making sense? XD). Gaah. Well the main point is, there’s more to it than meets the eye. I thought I already knew what the story would end up with, then BANG! It swerves into a different scenario and I’m completely blown away.

The story was already a big point for me, but then I also started to love the characters. Forgive me for not saying them all specifically, but I am proud to say that I didn’t end up hating everyone. Maybe just one… or two. I also give points to it because there’s a love triangle in it ;). Don’t be fooled, I am very solid with my book boyfriends. With this, I’m not sure. I love Michael here, who has the mysterious edge that surrounds him which I’m always drawn to. But then I am always a sucker for the charming and very playboy kind of boys in books. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not usually this girly in real life, (Just a little anyways), but they’re both two different guys that has one of my most favourite attitudes a guy could ever have.

Overall, Hourglass is a very surprising read( and I meant that in a good way). It held me captive, with a world that is not usually known amongst normal life. Even though I’ve read a lot of fantasy novels in my fair share of reading, this is definitely a standout.
