Friday Finds (03)

Friday Finds is an event hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading where we showcase the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

Author: Ellen Hopkins
Title: Crank
Published: October 5, 2004

In Crank, Ellen Hopkins chronicles the turbulent and often disturbing relationship between Kristina, a character based on her own daughter, and the "monster," the highly addictive drug crystal meth, or "crank." Kristina is introduced to the drug while visiting her largely absent and ne'er-do-well father. While under the influence of the monster, Kristina discovers her sexy alter-ego, Bree: "there is no perfect daughter, / no gifted high school junior, / no Kristina Georgia Snow. / There is only Bree." Bree will do all the things good girl Kristina won't, including attracting the attention of dangerous boys who can provide her with a steady flow of crank.

Why I added it to my TBR? The cover. The title. So simple yet so interesting. Plus, Nuz recommended it to me! :)

Author: John Green & David Levithan
Title: Will Grayson, Will Grayson
Published: April 6, 2010

One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two teens—both named Will Grayson—are about to cross paths. As their worlds collide and intertwine, the Will Graysons find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, building toward romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical.

Hilarious, poignant, and deeply insightful, John Green and David Levithan’s collaborative novel is brimming with a double helping of the heart and humor that have won both of them legions of faithful fans.

  3. Oh, I've read Crank! (I know, isn't sad how shocked I am when I have read a book that someone else hasn't.) It's the first Ellen Hopkins book I've ever read and I've read all her books since! Hope you enjoy it!
