Title: Click to Subscribe
Author: L.M. Augustine
Published: May 9th 2013
Source: Received an ebook for the blog tour
Synopsis:
1,135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.
As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I <3 Sam Green” T-shirt Harper promised she'd have on.
To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him.

My Thoughts
Click to Subscribe is a novel that's not hard to love and be addicted to. Interesting and dorky characters, funny lines, vlogging, romance, first love, ice cream, chocolate cake - what more can you ask for??
I'll have to give a very drool-worthy virtual chocolate cake to L.M. Augustine..
..because of the writing style which made me want to keep reading 'til the wee hours of the morning.
The beginning of the story will really captivate you because it's as if you're seeing everything you are reading right at that moment.
First, West talks about how guys get girls with just one flash of a smile, then about his mother, then his vlog. And then, there comes Harper... The girl with an avatar of a cow riding a bicycle while simultaneously eating pizza. (Now try imagining that! *grins*)
And their conversation online..
Harper: “I got a love note once during Spanish class in seventh grade. I’m pretty sure it said I was hotter than a frozen potato.”
SamGreen: "Nice. Being hotter than a frozen potato is pretttty impressive. You deserve some sort of award."
Harper: "I know, right?"
SamGreen: "Plus, it’s one hot frozen potato."
Harper: "So hot it practically burnt the freaking kid’s hand, I bet."
SamGreen: "Well, it’s no wonder with that super sexy new avatar of yours"
Harper: "Hey, what can I say? My avatar brings all the boys to the yard."
I have to admit, there were times when I was annoyed with West because come on, how can he not realize that he really loved Cat?! But then, I thought of what he has gone through and the pain of losing his mother. And of course, he wouldn't want to lose Cat because he's afraid that they're just going to mess everything up and lose their friendship. And then, he would have.. no one.
Also, we'll witness the struggle of West when it comes to dealing with his father. It made me realize that losing someone so dear to you can make you useless and sometimes, even senseless. And I really admire West for the way he dealt with his mother's death.
As for the other main character -- Cat is such a sweet girl. We've all been there. Fell in love with someone then got rejected. But Cat is not the kind of girl who will easily give up. She'll make sure she'll do everything, and I mean EVERY FREAKINGLY CUTE THING to win the guy she wants to be with. And that's the lucky best friend, West. I just wish that there were two POVs, one of Cat's and the other of West's because it would have been great knowing what was also inside Cat's mind. Yes, she is funny too, but I think that she's got a deeper character within her that readers would also love to read.
Nonetheless, the clever writing, the witty lines, the funny comments and the dorky attitude of Cat and West made me want to leave the real world and join THEIR world. They have a chocolate palace you guys, A CHOCOLATE PALACE! (Where Cat is the Highness of All Things Chocolate and West is the Servant.)
The character of West was very likeable and relatable. He can be so annoyingly cute:
"Neither of them seems to understand just how intimate my relationship with ice cream is."
..and he can also be dead serious at times:
"'Love? Aren’t we supposed to embrace love? People spend their whole lives searching for it and never finding it, so why is it that the instant I get a little taste of it, it screws me over? Isn’t it supposed to be a gift, not a curse? Not something that hurts this damn much?"
The awkwardness after Cat confessed to West was something readers would have to watch out for. You'll laugh and fall in love at the same time. The classic falling-in-love-with-the-best-friend also drew me in. I'm honestly not a fan of stories like that, but this is something different and you better read it so you can understand me. *winks*
Click to Subscribe is a refreshingly adorable debut novel by Augustine that will surely make your hearts flutter and crave for chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles on top.
