My Thoughts
Wow just wow! Shiver has been on my TBR list for quite some time and I never actually got around to reading it for some reason so this is my first book by Maggie.There are tonnes of YA Fantasy books out there and I've never come across a book that I can compare to The Raven Boys-it was an exceptionally original book.
At the beginning I had no idea where the plot was headed because all the elements seemed to be just all over the place but as the story progresses everything fell into place.
What I loved the most about this book was that ALL of the characters both Blue and the Raven Boys(Gangsey,Adam,Ronan and Noah) were very much involved in the story and did not just keep popping in and out of the scenes.
Usually I prefer reading books written in first person narration because it's more relate-able.
The Raven Boys was written in third person,that is the perspectives of Blue,Gangsey,Adam and Whelk and the transition from one perspective to the other was smooth.
The interaction between the characters was pretty cool and there were some laugh-out-loud moments too!Blue's family members were great supporting characters too.
The only thing I wished for was a little more interaction between Blue and Gansey. Well I guess we still have the sequel to see more of that!Can't believe we have to wait till September 2013 for it though! :(
Overall,it was a great book-one that I'd recommend for everyone!

I loved this book, too! I've also had my eyes on Shiver for a long time now but still haven't read it yet. I don't know what made me pick this one up immediately. And it was amazing! Also, each characters - with their different personalities and roles - are very essential in the story. I especially love Gansey!

Although Gansey was sweet I loved Adam more.What I loved about the characters was that each of them had their own flaws and this made the story more relate-able. :)

I love this book too, I also haven't gotten to Shiver yet, but Its moved up for me after reading this!
ReplyDeleteI actually have this book in my cart right now at Amazon but wanted to get the 4 for 3 promotion so I was just going to take it out and switch it with another book...but now I've got to get it. I've been thinking about reading this book for a while. :)

Loved it too. Maggie has an exciting, unique voice. I don't even know how to categorise her books. And that makes them harder to review, WOW is a pretty good start though! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this book so much! It really isn't even a book I'd normally read. I've never liked any of Maggie Stiefvater's previous books. The Raven Boys just did it for me.
